I can read the dead like a story.
The broken bones, the torn skin—they whisper their secrets to me.
But the living? They’re much harder to decipher.
Especially him.
Agent Byron Scott.
All sharp edges and relentless focus, he sees through my scars and the walls I’ve built to protect myself.
I didn’t mean to let him in.
Didn’t mean to fall for the way he looks at me, like I’m more than my haunted past.
I should shut him out while I still can.
Because falling for Byron Scott isn’t safe.
Not when the serial killer he’s hunting is leaving bodies in their wake.
Not when a stalker is following my every move, watching from the shadows.
Byron says he’ll protect me.
But with danger closing in from every side, I’m not sure who I need saving from more—my enemies or the man who’s tearing down my defenses piece by piece.

I just finished reading this novella and I have to say, I really loved it. It's so refreshing to read a short story that ties up all the loose ends. Everything made sense and the ending felt complete to me. It did everything right.
The romance here is quick and powerful. You'll be hooked from the very beginning. The author does a great job of building tension and keeping you guessing. Maam, I even thought I was reading a crime psychological thriller. I was completely invested in Lillian and Byron's journey and couldn't put the book down. I was impressed with how much story and emotion the author packed into such a short book.
I don't want to give away too much. You really need to read this one for yourself. I highly recommend it! Thank you for this wonderful story, Leslie.
